Diamond Group, started in 1970 by setting up a unit in Kolkata, called Asianol Lubricants Limited to manufacture specialised chemicals, greases and lubricants. In 1997, it formed Asianol Lubricants in a joint venture with a US-based corporation, Quaker Chemical Inc, one of the most renowned synthetic lubricants manufacturers of the world with plants in 18 countries. The year 2000, saw the group start Coastal Shipping in Mumbai, along with Asianol Shipping Limited. Today Asianol Shipping owns and operates 8 barges of 28000 DWT for JSW Steel.
